40 days till Antarctica.

 Hello and welcome to my blog!

This is my first post for what looks to be the biggest adventure of my life. In 40 days I will be deploying to McMurdo Station, in Antarctica, to be a carpenter for the U.S Antarctic Program. I will be stationed there from August 2025 through February 2026. 

The goal of this blog is keep a digital journal of my adventure, to post pictures of my life down south, log my day to day experiences and show the splendor and beauty of the last untouched land on earth. 

As a carpenter I'll be responsible for repair and construction work in and around the base, as well as have the opportunity to travel across the continent to some of the various field camps to set them up and take them down. 

I don't know how well my internet connection is going to be on ice, I don't know how frequently I'll be able to update this. I will endeavor to do so as regularly as possible but please understand I will be working with some serious limitations. 

I've been informed that I should be on ice on or before August 20th. I'm still waiting on my final travel papers. 

In the mean time I'm busy getting all the stuff and little bits of home I hope to take with me.
